About Point Cook

Situated between Altona Meadows, Seabrook and Werribee, Point Cook has most recently become the new home to thousands through the growth of housing estates in the area including Boardwalk Estate, Innisfail, Newminster, Point Cook Gardens, Lincoln Heath, Willowgreen, Monterey Central, Sanctuary Lakes.

Approximately 20 kilometers from the city of Melbourne, Point Cook can be accessed via the Point Cook Road or the Forsythe Road off ramps from the Princess Freeway. It is well known as the location of one of the RAAF Base Williams locations and the RAAF Museum. Other attractions include the Point Cook Homestead, the Point Cooke Coastal Park and the Point Cooke Marine Reserve.

The town’s centre is on the corner of Dunnings Road & Boardwalk Boulevard. This shopping complex is designed to have over 90 specialty shops and service outlets for the community.

The Point Cook Homestead is now a Café for all to enjoy it’s open view of the bay and nature. It is accessed from Point Cook Road. It is now open 7 days a week and the opening hours of the cafe will also be extended. New caretakers Sophie Cumming and Paul Brown say that they look forward to writing the next chapter of the heritage attraction and maintaining this asset for Parks Victoria is going to be a real privilege. Over the next five years there will be a focus on encouraging more people to visit and learn about the history and conservation of the area, its about sustainability, environment and creating a family atmosphere. They also plan to reinstate the garden which was used back in the Chirnside time and they would like to involve local school kids in planting seeds and propagating plants as part of a heritage and conservation education program.

The area also features the Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club. The link course was designed by popular golfer Greg Norman and is also home to the Sanctuary Lakes Shopping Centre.
